The Martin County Courthouse

This two-story brick courthouse in Shoals, Indiana, was built in 1876 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  It currently houses the Martin County Historical Society Museum.  We led the design team that performed a feasibility study for the historic preservation of the structure.

The purpose of our study was to make observations of the existing building.  We focused on the architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and evaluated the condition of the existing building in each category.

The National Register of Historic Places was authorized in 1966.  This listing serves to identify properties that are valuable to our country's history and heritage and therefore worthy of preservation.
Being placed on this list is often the first step in preserving and protecting the property for future generations.
